A Major MVP's First Rep for a New Team
jL is a former Major winner and Major MVP, and this is literally his first competitive match wearing a Vitality jersey — stepping in for mezii, who is taking paternity leave for the event. Everything else about Vitality's lineup is well established: apEX calling, ZywOo and ropz still among the best individual players in the world, flameZ rounding out the rifle core. The open question is how quickly jL folds into a system he's never played inside before, against opposition he's never faced with this team.
A Roster Rebuilt Around an 18-Year-Old
Inner Circle has replaced three of its five starters since September 2025 — only onic and Dawy remain from the lineup the org originally signed. That churn included a four-year ESIC ban handed to a since-departed player over match-fixing, background the org has had to work through publicly. What earned Inner Circle this trip to Porto was a clean run through the RES Showdown 4 European qualifier, going undefeated and beating Virtus.pro 2-0 in the final. Dawy, still only 18, was the standout of that run, and now gets the biggest test of his career against a Major-winning core.
A Rockier Vitality Summer, Even With the Talent Gap
Vitality remain a top-five side by any measure, but 2026 hasn't been their smoothest year — a quarterfinal exit at the IEM Cologne Major, missing the LAN stage of BLAST Bounty Season 2 entirely, and a quarterfinal loss to Spirit at the Esports World Cup 2026 that marked the first time Spirit had beaten them since ropz joined the roster. None of that makes Inner Circle the favorite here — the individual talent gap is real — but it does mean Vitality are trying to settle a new piece into their lineup at a moment when their own form has been less commanding than usual.
