FUT and MOUZ meet in the Esports World Cup 2026 quarterfinal on August 21 — their fourth meeting of the year, and their second inside this exact tournament. Seven days ago, in the group stage, FUT won 2-1.

That result sent MOUZ into the lower bracket. It also extended something bigger: FUT haven't lost to MOUZ since February.

A Rivalry Three Wins Deep

MOUZ have won exactly one of their last four meetings with FUT — a 2-0 sweep at PGL Cluj-Napoca back in February, when FUT were still filling in for Legacy at that event. Every meeting since has gone FUT's way: 2-1 at the ESL Pro League Season 23 Finals in March, 2-1 at the IEM Cologne Major in June, and 2-1 again in this tournament's own group stage on August 14. Across those four series, FUT lead the map count 6-5.

Mirage has been the one constant — played in three of the four series, and a FUT win every time.

Two Different Roads Back Here

FUT's route to the quarterfinal has been the tidier of the two: a 13-10 win over TYLOO to open the tournament, the group-stage win over MOUZ, then a 2-1 win over magic in the Round of 16. Three series, three wins, no detours.

MOUZ's path ran through the lower bracket. The loss to FUT on August 14 meant a 13-8 win over Lynn Vision and a 2-0 win over PARIVISION just to stay alive, before a Round of 16 win over GamerLegion that erased a 10-2 deficit on Nuke to close the series out 2-1.

Both sides arrive off a win. Only one of them got here by the direct route.

A Path That Skips the Bracket's Toughest Half

Whatever happens here, the winner's road doesn't cross the bracket's other half — the one already stacked with Falcons, Vitality, Spirit and Legacy working through each other in the tournament's other two quarterfinals. The winner of FUT vs. MOUZ instead meets the winner of G2 vs. FURIA in the semi-final, a clearer route to the final than almost anyone else left in the draw — if either side can first get past a rivalry that has gone FUT's way three times running.
