What Legacy do have is a run that's already accounted for two of the tournament's biggest names. Natus Vincere and Falcons, the reigning Major champions, are both out, and Legacy beat both of them to get here — as the #12-ranked team in a bracket that also contained #1, #2, #4 and #6.

The "Bracket of Death," Survived
Legacy's route here wasn't a clean one. A 0-2 loss to FaZe in their own upper-bracket semi-final sent them into the lower bracket, where a 2-0 win over MIBR kept the run alive. From there it was a 2-0 win over NAVI in the Round of 16 and a 2-0 win over Falcons in the quarterfinal, a side that couldn't take a single round on their own T side. Bruno "latto" Rebelatto, named Player of the Match in that win, summed up the run afterward: "We're in the 'Bracket of Death,' and yet we're managing to get through it."
Spirit's run started with a loss of their own — to JiJieHao, in their very first match of the event — before four straight series wins: Luminosity, BIG, B8 in the Round of 16, and Vitality in the quarterfinal. That last one ended a six-match losing streak against Vitality stretching back to October 2024.
No Rematch Cushion, No History to Lean On
Legacy have already turned around one series against a heavy favorite this tournament — Falcons came in as the reigning Major champions and left having won zero rounds on the T side. Spirit enter this one with the higher world ranking by a wide margin (#2 vs. #12) and the tournament's form to match, but with nothing from a prior meeting to tell either side what to expect. latto addressed exactly this after the Falcons win: "They'll be the favorites. And we'll have to use that to our advantage. We'll just have to play our game, have the right mindset, stay calm, and if it's meant to be, it'll be."
A Final Spot, and a Bigger Prize Jump Than It Looks
The winner goes straight into the Esports World Cup 2026 grand final on August 23 against the winner of FURIA vs. FUT; the loser drops into the third-place match the same day. Fourth place is already locked in at $110,000 for whoever loses here, but the step up to reaching the final is a guaranteed $340,000, with $600,000 on the line for whoever wins it all — the single biggest prize-money jump left in the bracket.
